My commitment to global engagement manifested through active participation in the prestigious Erasmus program. A transformative six-month stint in Andalusia, Spain, not only enriched my academic perspective but also exposed me to diverse cultural nuances, fostering a holistic approach to scientific inquiry. This experience ignited a passion for cross-cultural collaboration that would become a hallmark of my professional identity.

The pursuit of knowledge led me to Warsaw for a transformative Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, a pivotal chapter in my academic trajectory. During this period, not only did I delve into cutting-edge research, but I also secured grants that facilitated collaborative projects in Hungary and France. These endeavors not only broadened my scientific acumen but also laid the foundation for my commitment to fostering international collaborations.
A testament to my dedication to scientific discourse is my active involvement in international conferences and workshops. From presenting groundbreaking research findings in the historic halls of Oxford(UK) and the vibrant streets of Paris(France) to contributing to discussions in Spetses (Greece), Lisbon (Portugal), Nara (Japan), Cold Spring Harbor (USA), Barkley University (USA), each locale became a stage for meaningful knowledge exchange and networking.
Building on my extensive research background, I undertook a Postdoctoral position at Potsdam University in Germany, where I collaborated with leading minds in the field. This three-year period not only contributed to cutting-edge research endeavors but also refined my expertise in molecular biology.

Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, I embarked on a journey that transcended borders early in life. As a child, I relocated to Canada, spending my formative years in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before settling in Calgary, Alberta. This diverse upbringing laid the groundwork for my academic and professional pursuits, marked by a passion for science and a commitment to exploring the world.


I completed my primary, bachelor’s, and master’s studies in Calgary where I also worked as a music teacher for several years. After my master’s degree, I worked as a scientific consultant for a cannabis research and development company for two years. This experience broadened my understanding of the scientific landscape and fueled my interest in cutting-edge research.


My thirst for knowledge extended beyond borders, leading me to explore various corners of the world. From the vibrant landscapes of the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and Cuba to the historical richness of Europe’s France, Greece, Italy, Spain, and the Balkans, each journey served as a tapestry of cultural and scientific experiences.

Recognizing the need to deepen my scientific insights, I embarked on a new chapter in Europe. Applying to universities in Sweden and Germany, I secured an International Max Planck Research Schools (IMPRS) fellowship through the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany. Currently, I am immersed in my doctoral studies at the University of Potsdam, delving into the intricacies of plant cell biology.

 My academic journey is a testament to my passion for language and cognitive sciences. It commenced at Ferdowsi University in Iran, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. Building upon this foundation, I pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Foreign Language – Applied Linguistics at Azad University, Iran.
Alongside my academic education, I have taught English to learners of diverse proficiency levels for 8 years. In addition, I have experience in 

presenting research findings in several national and international conferences in Turkey, Russia, Germany and Australia. During my PhD, I have lived in Germany (Potsdam) and Australia (Sydney). Therefore, I have had the opportunity to experience different cultures and working in different international and academic settings. This helped me make new friends from different countries and explore diverse cuisine, landscapes, a lot more and also face challenges which all contributed to my personal growth.

My journey abroad started in my first year of high school when I went to Canada for a month to excel in my English. During my bachelor’s degree, I regularly visited my family in the Netherlands to experience how Europe is.
This exposure fueled my aspiration to pursue further studies in Europe, ultimately leading me to the vibrant academic environment of Germany.
Opting for a Master’s of Toxicology at Potsdam University, I found myself not only deepening my expertise but also broadening my international perspectives. Driven by ambition, I found immense satisfaction in witnessing Germany’s robust support for students to cultivate skills and pursue academic excellence in my field during my master’s program. Originally from Turkey, I pursued my academic journey in mathematics at Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, where I achieved the highest honors in my department. During my undergraduate years, I demonstrated a strong passion for exploration, visiting 11 European countries, including Italy, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria, Greece, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Netherlands and Poland. I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology from Ethiraj College for Women, affiliated with the University of Madras. The pursuit of knowledge brought me to Germany.

In my initial year in Europe, I had the opportunity to explore different cultures by visiting countries such as Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. These experiences have added a rich dimension to my academic and personal growth.
